PLASMA SPRAY

PLASMA SPRAY

Through ionization of plasma gasses ( argon, hydrogen ) that are passed into a strong electrical arc, the temperature reaches to 10000 ºC. Although, ceramic powders are known to be hardly melted, extremely hot plasma flame melts the ceramic powders easily. And melted thermal powders are sprayed at high velocity. Thus, bonding to the substrate is strongly performed.

During the application, workpiece temperature is limited to 150 ºC so deformation risk doesn't appear.

In plasma spray applications, powders which have variety of kinds and features are used.

. Ceramics ( aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, chrome oxide, zirconium oxide )
. Carbides ( tungsten carbide, chrome carbide )
. Metals and metal alloys ( nickel, iron, aluminum, cobalt, copper, molybdenum, titanium base powders )
. Cermets ( blends of metals and metal oxide ceramics )
