HVOF

In the HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) Thermal Spray Process an oxygen-fuel mixture is used. In the gas-fueled systems, propylene, propane, hydrogen or natural gas can be used as the fuel. The fuel of the liquid-fuel systems is kerosen.

The HVOF Spray Gun is designed in such a way that it propels molten thermal powder particles with very high velocity. These particles create high-quality coating by impact to the workpiece with a more than 700 m/s velocity.

HVOF is an ideal process for carbide cermet type coatings. (tungsten carbide-cobalt, chrome carbide-nickel, tungsten carbide-chrome carbide-metal alloy)

HVOF Characteristics

  • High Bond Strength
  • High Density , very low porosity
  • Extremely high hardness
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Excellent resistance to wear by abrasion, erosion or fretting
  • Higher coating thickness
  • Homogenous sprayed texture , smooth surface
  • Fine surface finishes ( can be machined, ground, lapped, honed or super finished)
  • Improved toughness
  • Low oxide and impurities
